The A1 2 exam is the second level German exam in the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” or German Language Proficiency Test which assesses one’s language skills in Standard German. Students must reach level A2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to take this exam. The A1 2 exam test German Language proficiency in Standard German and has a total of 60 multiple-choice questions. All candidates must take this exam with their official answer booklet from the Goethe-Institut, the German Academic Exchange Service or from an authorized university in Germany. You can take this exam with either a computer, a tablet or with a mobile phone. We recommend taking the exam on a computer to ensure accuracy and most importantly make no mistakes! The Exam is also available in two other formats: A1 2 Audiobook and A1 2 Easy version which are similar to each other in terms of content except that they have been designed for those who do not speak fluent German. The A1 2 exam has a marking scale from 1 to 4.4 with a total possible of 100. To pass the A1 2 exam, you must score over 50.
